Hurricane Tigers

What an amazing season our Hurricane Tigers had this year, ending at the State Final game with 2.9 seconds left and YES we were going to be State Champs for only the second time in the school’s History with 2.9 seconds left and one more play the Juan Diego Eagle’s had the ball on about their 20 yard line, they snapped the ball and of course threw up a Hail Mary pass (wouldn’t you?) all eyes to the end zone and this kid made the catch of his life and we were not to be State Champs. The stands were so eerily quite all of us just standing in amazement of what had just happened, you see it was truly a once in a life time catch, for our boys it was the end of their season and for some the end of their football careers. I hope those Coaches understand that they can not undo in the 2.9 seconds what they have done for those boys in 4 years! I am beyond blessed to have settled and am raising my kids in Hurricane Utah, what an amazing community, what amazing friends and mentor’s my children have. As we left to make the drive to Salt Lake City that day parents had put banners from Hurricane all the way to Salt Lake ( 4 hour drive!) in support of the team, I hope even in the loss they felt the love and support.
So we move on, the headline in the paper today is “Winter Storm Warning through Tuesday night” so the machines are ready and Brad is pulling out the snow gear. Next will come Kyndalls Club Volleyball season, and Torries Track season, looking forward to both of those! So more to come from the Gardner’s because it’s all about my girls, football, snowmobiling, and Family!
This first picture sums up the last game, the other ones are from the semi final game against Park City.

I am not sure how long this ritual has been going on, we did nothing like this when I was in school, for the Sadies dance girls get tags and run around and tag the boy they want to go to the dance with. They received their tags on a Monday at school, the rules state you may not tag the boy on school grounds, so the hunt began, the boys being safe at football practice and school but once they left the grounds it all began and for Torrie ended at about 1 am that night tagging her friend Tim Long. Watching Cory Edwards be chased down our street by Brooke was one of the funniest things, of course he would want to go with Brooke but you still have to run, about an hour later and after coming down out of a tree Cory had been tagged. They had a great “day date” and Dutch oven dinner, then off to the dance.
